Molecular Electronics: An Introduction to Theory and Experiment

Brief Description

This lecture addresses master students of Physics, Chemistry or Molecular Material Sciences and provides a compact introduction into the rapidly developing field of molecular electronics. It focuses on our present understanding of the electrical conduction in single-molecule circuits and provides a thorough introduction to the experimental techniques and theoretical concepts in an integrated manner. This teaching unit comprises lectures and exercises. Depending on the specialization of the participant the specialization will be executed in theoretical physics by performing a well-defined theory project (i.e. implementation of one of the physical concepts into a computer code) or in experimental physics by successful participation in the mandatory lab course (to be held at Helmholtz Center Dresden Rossendorf under supervision of Dr. Artur Erbe).
