Elektronischer Transport in Nanostrukturen - Vorlesung /
Electronic Transport in Nanostructures - Lecture
Prof. Dr. Elke Scheer
The course is a usual compulsary elective topic (10 ECTS) with on average 4 lecture hours per week. Because of several holidays and other time constraints three timeslots per week are foreseen which will be served following the time schedule.

Inhalt
Voraussetzung:
Kenntnisse in Festkörperphysik

Contents:
In this lecture new phenomena are discussed, which occur in electronic transport through nanostructures. They are mostly based on the wave properties of electrons, interactions between electrons and/or on the quantization of the elementary charge. These phenomena include quantum interference effects such as the Aharonov-Bohm effect or universal conductance fluctuations, weak localization, conductance quantization, charge effects (e.g. single electron transistor), and some aspects of molecular electronics and magnetoelectronics. We will also learn about the underlying theories of quantum transport (Landauer-Büttiker formalism, orthodox theory, etc.). The lecture is aimed at students of the master programs in physics and nanoscience and requires knowledge in solid state physics. The lecture is acompanied by exercises and hands-on experiments. Default teaching language is German. On request it willl be presented in English.
Mandatory requirement:
Knowledge in solid state physics
